Polymer Hydrogel Electrolytes for Flexible and Multifunctional Zinc?Ion Batteries and Capacitors

Flexibility and multifunctionality are now becoming inevitable worldwide tendencies for electronic devices to meet modern life's convenience, efficiency, quality demand. To that end, developing flexible wearable energy storage is a must. Recently, aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) capacitors (ZICs) stand out as two of the most potent candidates electronics due their excellent electrochemical performance, intrinsic safety, low cost, functional controllability. Simultaneously, polymer electrolytes' introduction rational design, especially various hydrogels, have endowed conventional ZIBs ZICs with colorful functions, which has been regarded perfect answer suppliers integrated into those advanced devices. This review focuses on hydrogel electrolytes (HEs) application ZICs. Previously reported HEs were classified analyzed, from flexibility mechanical endurance, temperature adaptability, stability, finally cell-level based multifunctional HEs. Besides introducing diverse exciting functions HEs, working principles also analyzed. Ultimately, all details these examples summarized, related challenges, constructive solutions, futural prospects dedicatedly evaluated.
